Fundamental System Skills in z/OS

Master basic system skills in z/OS to effectively manage an IBM Z environment using TSO/E, ISPF, JCL and UNIX System Services.

Day 1: Introduction to IBM Z and security with/OS

  • Introduction to environments IBM Z Systems — architecture mainframe, systemy operacyjne (with/OS, with/VM, Linux on Z), role IBM Z in infrastrukturze korporacyjnej
  • Architecture with/OS — przestrzenie adresowe, processing wsadowe (batch) and online, memory management, components systemu
  • Security with/OS — concepts security systemowego, mechanizmy ochrony resources, policies security
  • RACF (Resource Access Control Facility) — introduction, groups and users, profiles resources, poziomy autoryzacji
  • Profile RACF — creating and management profilami, access control to data sets and resources systemowych
  • Exercises: logowanie to systemu, navigation after environment with/OS, basic operations security

Day 2: TSO/ISPF — navigation and edytor

  • Logowanie to TSO and launching ISPF/PDF — procedures logowania, parameters sesji, menu main ISPF
  • Nawigowanie after oknach dialogowych ISPF/PDF — panele, commands nawigacji, klawisze funkcyjne, ustawienia user
  • Edytor ISPF — commands basic (SAVE, CANCEL, FIND, CHANGE), commands wierszowe (I, D, C, M, R)
  • Przydzielanie data sets przez ISPF — creating sekwencyjnych and partycjonowanych (PDS), parameters alokacji
  • Edytowanie data sets and files HFS — otwieranie, modification, zapisywanie, working with members PDS
  • Exercises: navigation ISPF, edycja data sets, creating and management members PDS

Day 3: Management zestawami data in ISPF

  • Operacje on data sets — copying, renaming, deletion, displaying attributes
  • Sortowanie and scalanie data sets — tools ISPF, sorting options, comparing
  • Zagadnienia security for data sets MVS — permissions, RACF profiles for data sets
  • Security files HFS — permissions UNIX, owner, grupa, bity permissions
  • Modyfikacja paneli ISPF/PDF — proste modyfikacje existing paneli, dostosowywanie interfejsu
  • Exercises: copying, renaming, deletion data sets, configuration permissions

Day 4: Polecenia TSO/E, REXX and JCL

  • Polecenia TSO/E — overview and using commands TSO, ALLOCATE, FREE, LISTDS, SUBMIT, STATUS
  • REXX exec and TSO CLIST — invoking scripts REXX, fundamentals syntax, launching CLIST, automation tasks
  • JES (Job Entry Subsystem) — role JES in przetwarzaniu tasks, JES2 vs JES3, queues tasks
  • Fundamentals JCL — instrukcje JOB, EXEC, DD, modification existing JCL, submitting jobs wsadowych
  • SDSF (System Display and Search Facility) — browsing statusu tasks, data output, logs system
  • Exercises: commands TSO, launching REXX, modification and submitting JCL, browsing results in SDSF

Day 5: UNIX System Services and summary

  • Introduction to UNIX System Services (USS) — architecture, hierarchiczny system files (HFS/zFS), shelle
  • Invoking processes UNIX — commands UNIX in with/OS, OMVS, launching processes, management zadaniami
  • Manipulating directories and HFS files — creating, copying, moving, deletion, permissions
  • ISHELL — interaktywna shell ISPF for UNIX System Services, navigation after systemie files, operations on plikach
  • Integration MVS and UNIX — access to data sets MVS with UNIX, sharing resources, pipe
