z/OS Installation Using ServerPac

This course is designed to teach you how to use the CustomPac installation dialog to receive and install a new z/OS ServerPac order. It also discusses basic PARMLIB customization, which may be required prior to performing IPL of a new z/OS system. The course includes a significant amount of lab activities.

Issues

Develop a z/OS deployment plan based on the installation of z/OS ServerPac
Installation and activation of the CustomPac installation dialog box
Using the CustomPac installation dialog to configure the z/OS system layout according to local requirements
Perform the installation tasks created by the installation dialog and all related customization tasks necessary to build an initial z/OS system with IPL capability
Perform the hardware and software configuration required for the z/OS system IPL
Perform basic PARMLIB customization of the new z/OS base to provide a stable platform for migration and testing of other products and applications on the new z/OS level
Reuse ServerPac z/OS configurations in future installations to reduce time spent on z/OS level upgrades

Ability to use MVS JCL to construct task streams
Ability to use VSAM IDCAMS to work with VSAM objects
End-user skills in TSO/ISPF PDF editor and tools
Understanding the functional components of z/OS: Equivalent to participation in z/OS Facilities
Knowledge of SMP/E processing
