- Introduction to project risk management — concepts, standards (ISO 31000, PMBOK Risk Management)
- Risk management framework — risk policy, appetite, tolerance, governance structure, roles
- Project context — strategic objectives, stakeholders, constraints, assumptions, environmental factors
- Risk management planning — risk management plan, methodology, roles, budget, schedule
- Project risk categories — technical, managerial, organizational, external, Risk Breakdown Structure (RBS)
- Exercises: developing a risk management plan, defining risk categories (RBS)
Day 2: Risk identification and analysis
- Risk identification — techniques (brainstorming, Delphi, checklists, SWOT analysis, assumptions analysis)
- Qualitative analysis — probability and impact matrix, prioritization, urgency assessment
- Quantitative analysis — Monte Carlo simulation, sensitivity analysis, decision tree, Expected Monetary Value (EMV)
- Risk register — structure, risk description (cause-risk-effect), risk owner, status
- Positive risks (opportunities) — identification, analysis and planning for leveraging opportunities in the project
- Exercises: risk identification for a project, qualitative and quantitative analysis, building a risk register
Day 3: Response strategies and integration with PM processes
- Threat response strategies — avoidance, transfer, mitigation, acceptance (active and passive)
- Opportunity response strategies — exploitation, sharing, enhancement, acceptance
- Response plans — contingency plans, fallback plans, reserves (contingency and management reserve)
- Integration with scope management — risk impact on WBS, scope creep, change management
- Integration with schedule and costs — buffer management, Earned Value and risk, critical path analysis
- Exercises: developing response strategies, contingency plans, integrating risk with the schedule
Day 4: Monitoring, communication and continuous improvement
- Risk monitoring — risk reviews, trigger events, risk audits, risk status, trend analysis
- Risk communication — reporting to stakeholders, escalation, risk dashboard, risk appetite
- Risk management in agile methodologies — risk-driven sprints, backlog refinement, velocity risk
- Lessons learned — analysis of realized risks, knowledge base, knowledge transfer between projects
- Risk management maturity — maturity models, benchmarking, building a risk culture
- Exercises: preparing a risk dashboard, lessons learned analysis, maturity assessment
Day 5: Preparation for the PECB exam
- Project risk management summary — review of key concepts and tools

- PECB certification preparation — exam format, question types, passing strategies
